Ruma was born, as many good ideas are, over a couple of drinks with a couple of pals. This time, all the way in Leipzig, Germany.

Edinburgh didn’t have a dedicated rum bar – why not? Rum has been growing in popularity every year, and with the growth of Scottish rum distilleries, it was time to remedy that.

Jamie and Stevie, two experienced operators in the Scottish bar scene with a love of rum set out to open their own place, and settled on the name Ruma, Scots Gaelic for Rum.

Ruma is a place to share great bottles with the rum heads of Scotland, or to introduce favourite new rums to those still learning about the spirit. With a healthy Scottish rum selection, Ruma will be showcasing not just what’s made on the other side of the world, but what’s made on our doorstep too.
